National Quality Standard – awarded highest assessable ranking
In 2009 all Australian state governments agreed to a new National Quality Framework governed by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). The Framework was designed to improve education and care across long day care, family day care, preschool, kindergarten and outside school hours care. From 2012 all approved early childhood services were required to implement and uphold the seven areas of the National Quality Standard:
- Educational program and practice
- Children’s health and safety
- Physical environment
- Staffing arrangements
- Relationships with children
- Collaborative partnerships with families and communities
- Leadership and service management
Stafford Heights Kindergarten is very proud to announce our attainment of “Exceeding National Quality Standard” – the highest possible ranking in all seven areas – a very rare achievement for service providers. This assessment is indicative of our true commitment to continued excellence in early childhood education.
In its summary of our assessment, ACECQA said: “The Regulatory Authority congratulates Stafford Heights Preschool and Kindergarten's achievements in providing high quality outcomes for children, families and educators by exceeding the National Quality Standards in all of the seven Quality Areas. The holistic approach to teaching and learning, and the shared understanding of educators, enables children to be competent and capable learners. The sense of community and involvement of parents and children as active decision makers in the service contributes to the high level of quality at the service. The strong partnership between educators and families build on children's sense of belonging, being and becoming. Stafford Heights Preschool and Kindergarten is commended for achieving a rating of Exceeding National Standards overall.”
