Stafford Heights Kindergarten is committed to employing (and promoting the continued professional development of) qualified and experienced teachers and educators. The strongest attribute shared by our teachers is their innate ability to nurture warm, respectful relationships with children and their families - intrinsic to the community nature of our kindy.
As the Director of Stafford Heights Kindergarten, I enjoy developing bonds with the children and families of both Groups One and Two. For the first half of the week I cherish my role as Teacher to Group One, and during the second half of the week I manage the kindy’s administration. I hold a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and have worked in community run kindergartens and child care centres for an extensive period of my teaching career. I’ve been fortunate to have worked with some very talented early childhood educators in outstanding centres who have helped shaped my teaching philosophy. I look forward to being a part of your child’s and family’s lives in this important year of learning to become part of a school community.
I am delighted to be the Teacher of Group Two at Stafford Heights Kindergarten. I have an eight year old daughter named Scarlett, who is in Grade Three, and my husband David is a DJ and graphic designer. Before Scarlett was born I worked in the music industry, and while on maternity leave I completed my Graduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood). I also have a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Creative Writing and minors in Cultural Studies and Italian. My mother was an early childhood teacher and owned a kindergarten when I was a teenager, so I gained lots of experience at an early age in a kindergarten environment. I love being a teacher as it enables me to keep on learning, alongside your beautiful children. Every day is different, and every day is fun!
I am the Assistant Educator for Group Two and I have had the pleasure of working alongside Penny and the Stafford Heights Kindergarten team for the last three years. I am married with two teenage boys, and in my spare time I enjoy travelling, camping and spending time with family and friends. It was motherhood, the love of watching my own children grow, the enjoyment I obtained by volunteering for my children’s kindergarten and school, my passion to learn new skills and life experiences that have led me to become an educator. I love working alongside the children, watching them smile and supporting them to make new discoveries and gain confidence during their time with us.
I love working with the Stafford Heights Kindergarten team to build an attitude of optimism for your little ones. As Assistant Educator for Group One, I work with Emma to provide a positive experience for all children in our care. I have always had a genuine affinity for children. Originally I trained as a registered nurse and completed my post graduate study in paediatrics, working for many years in a neurosurgical / orthopaedic ward. When I started my own family I found shift work difficult so I studied a Certificate III in Children’s Services and moved into early childhood education. At home my husband and I are surrounded by our five children and life tends to revolve around soccer, netball and ballet. I understand what a huge responsibility it is to care for other people’s children so I am thankful for my position at Stafford Heights Kindergarten.
